Cabinet Office have been busy refining their plans for the upcoming procurement reform, adding clarity to their proposals and preparing to introduce the Bill to parliament. Last month they released an update on their progress – we’ve provided an outline of the new information below.
One of the key takeaways from the February update was in regards to learning and development. Cabinet Office will roll out a programme across the public sector which will support stakeholders to get up to speed with the changes.
This programme will be delivered through three types of training:
- Knowledge Drop Webinars – 60-90 minute sessions for those who need to have a foundation level of understanding about the changes. For example, senior leaders who regularly interact with the procurement process, or those that manage suppliers.
- Self-guided eLearning – 10hrs online learning designed for Contracting Authorities. This will include all the essential information and will be necessary for procurement professionals to understand the changes in full. The eLearning will include a certification module so that delegates can demonstrate completing the course.
- Deep Dive Webinar – this is for those who have already completed the eLearning, been certified and would like to dig into some of the significant changes in more detail. Aimed at those who need to be experts in the new regime.
Cabinet Office also stressed that they will give a minimum of six months notice before the new regime comes into force – and this will not be until 2023 at the earliest.
