Earlier this year we gifted £8,000 to Action For Kids through our FOUNDATION fund. The funding went towards their Employment and Skills Programme which supports young people, aged 18-25, with disabilities and autism, to build life and work skills, and confidence to move into paid employment.
Through the programme young people work closely with their employment coaches in Haringey, and at potential employers for training sessions, work placements/trials and interviews. A personalised programme is set to meet individual needs, skills, and aspirations. Work is always presented as a realistic outcome and ongoing assistance is provided for both the employee and the employer.
As part of their programme, Action for Kids are delivering a Summer School event. The school provides self-employment advice for the young people by developing business plans for start-ups which celebrate their passions. It’s designed to help them gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to take their ideas to the next level.
Last month Ellie and Leone from our marketing team attended one day of this event to provide marketing advice on their business ideas. They were blown away by their passion and how advanced they were with their business ideas. They spent the afternoon helping develop their logos, social media posts, budgeting and much more.
The AFK Team – “Thank you to the consortium for your generous £8,000 donation through the FOUNDATION fund. Your support has been crucial in advancing our Employment and Skills Programme, helping young people with disabilities and/or who are neurodivergent build vital life and work skills.
For those who often don’t receive the support they deserve, contributions like yours make all the difference. Thanks to you, we’ve been able to deliver initiatives like our Summer School, empowering these young individuals to pursue their passions and move closer to meaningful employment. They thoroughly enjoyed your guidance on their social media strategy and created meaningful work. We are deeply grateful for your partnership in transforming the lives of these passionate young entrepreneurs.”
