This Lot covers the installation and maintenance of various mechanical ventilation systems. It’s been split into five sub lots to accommodate a range of suppliers and a range of different technology types.

This Lot includes:

  • Continuous Mechanical Extract (MEV)
  • Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
  • Passive Ventilation with Heat Recovery (PVHR)
  • Maintenance services – for MVHR and MEV
  • Maintenance services – for PVHR

Continuous Mechanical Extract (MEV)

This sub lot covers the  installation services for MEV in individual dwellings. The service includes installation works, commissioning of systems and handover upon completion.

What is MEV?

MEV incorporates a single unit that extracts stale air to atmosphere from all the wet rooms via ducting. The ventilation unit is to be low noise and be able to be located above the ceiling or in a utility cupboard for access. Ventilation rates are to be in accordance with Part F of the Building Regulations for a System 3 ventilation design. The system is to be tested and commissioned and an O&M manual provided.

Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)

This sub lot covers the  installation services for MVHR in individual dwellings. The service includes installation works, commissioning of systems and handover upon completion.

What is MVHR?

MVHR is a whole dwelling ventilation system that supplies and extracts air continuously at a low rate with the facility to be boosted and with summer bypass. The unit is normally installed in the loft space or cupboard and rigid flat ducts supplies fresh filtered air to the habitable rooms and extracts stale polluted air from the ‘wet’ rooms.

Ventilation rates are to be in accordance with Part F of the Building Regulations for a System 3 ventilation design. The system is to be tested and commissioned and an O&M manual provided.

Passive Ventilation with Heat Recovery (PVHR)

This sub lot covers the  installation services for PVHR in individual dwellings. The service includes installation works, commissioning of systems and handover upon completion.

What is PVHR?

PVHR is a whole dwelling ventilation system that uses passive stack via wind catchers and heat recovery. Stack ductwork is to be provided throughout the dwelling and insulated for supply air

Ventilation rates are to be in accordance with Part F of the Building Regulations for a System 3 ventilation design. The system is to be tested and commissioned and an O&M manual provided.

Maintenance Services (MEV & MVHR)

This sub lot covers maintenance services for Mechanical Ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) and Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV) systems within your dwellings.

Maintenance Services (PVHR)

This sub lot covers maintenance services for Passive Ventilation with heat recovery (PVHR) systems within your dwellings.

Direct Award

Customers are able to Direct Award to the top ranked supplier on this Lot providing that your requirement is within the scope of the framework. In exceptional cases, you are able to direct award outside of number 1 with a strong justification. If you’d like to speak to us about this in more detail please get in touch.

How long will this take me?

A direct award will take approximately 3-4 weeks depending on your internal approval processes. Learn more about the process here – Direct Award Process. 

Mini Competition

You’re also able to run a mini-competition to call off this framework. You’ll be able to use your own specification and cost model. You can also choose your own cost / quality split and quality questions. All pricing submitted by contractors must be linked to the framework.

How long will this take me?

Accessing this Framework

Who can access this framework?

Any publically funded body can use this framework – access is not limited to SEC Members alone. Full details can be found here.

Is there a cost to access? 

There is no access fee to use this framework. A levy % dependant on whether you are a guest or member is collected directly from the contractor once a call off contract is awarded. This percentage will never be more than 1.5% for Members and 2% for Guests.

How do I access this framework?

If your organisation is already a SEC Member then you will not need to sign an additional Access Agreement. You’re already signed up.
If your organisation is new to SEC, and would like to use our frameworks as a non-member then you will need to sign our Access Agreement. You’ll only need to sign this once and you’ll receive access to all our Frameworks and DPS’s – even ones we procure in the future.
