It’s important that all housing staff know how to recognise a situation where a person may be vulnerable to abuse and neglect. This course will explore the knowledge and skills you’ll need to carry out your safeguarding duties.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE 

We’ll cover:

  • Your safeguarding responsibilities and duties
  • The importance of joint working and good communication
  • How to share information appropriately, at the right time, with the right people
  • How to put safeguarding into practice including identifying risk and challenging local authority decisions.

AGENDA

The session will be delivered by Ewa Wnorowska, from Social Care Institute for Excellence. 

Content includes:

  • an introduction to safeguarding as outlined by the Care Act 2014
  • a summary of duties and responsibilities for local authorities
  • the importance of cooperation, partnership and information sharing
  • the relevance of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • case studies to explore safeguarding in practice
