This two-hour session will examine the history of social housing, with particular reference to the forces and dynamics that have shaped it to the present day. We’ll cover:
- Why have we built social housing?
- How have we built it and who have we built it for?
- How things have changed over the years and might change into the future
- The debate over high-rise construction
- The use of prefabrication and modern methods of construction
- The positives and negatives of regeneration
- Controversies over funding
- The changing demographics of those who live in social housing.
