Foundation revisited – we check back in with Demelza Hospice Care after donating £8,200 through our FOUNDATION fund in 2023.
How has SEC supported Demelza?
Demelza Kent was gifted a building, land and basic fit out. Our FOUNDATION grant helped them install overbed electric tracking and funding to go towards supplying furniture. The building was designed for nurse accommodation, family accommodation, therapy space and family events. Families and nurses can now use the building for a long or short stay accommodation with equipment that is adapted to their needs such as; overhead electric tracking, accessible kitchen units and appliances. Our grant to Demelza can help children with hoist needs to experience their program of art and music therapy. This also gives short breaks and respite for their full-time carers or parents.
Sally Hollister, our Finance Partner joined us for the visit – “I am very grateful to have been invited to this event. It was lovely to see how much this building is going to bring such a positive impact to so many lives. I could see how much this means to everyone involved”.
Who is Demelza?
Demelza Hospice Care for Children provides clinical care, therapies, specialised activities and practical support across Kent, Southeast London and East Sussex. They have two beautiful, well-equipped hospices and provide a range of community-based support in the home, as well as a programme of online activities and short breaks for families. They provide expert clinical and emotional support to help families live the best life they can.
