Employers Agent Services
This Lot of our Consultancy Services Framework covers the provision of employers’ agent services. Consultants on this Lot are able to facilitate projects from inception (pre-construction) to completion (handover and end of defect liability period).
What is an Employers Agent?
In construction the term ’employer’s agent’ is used to describe an agent acting on behalf of the client as the contract administrator for design-bid-build contracts (such as the JCT D&B 16). For design and build contracts, this role may or may not be included in the contract. However this can be contract specific.
The role of EA can be carried out by someone from your own organisation such as an in-house project manager, or may be an independent consultant which you appoint.
In addition to their role as contract administrator, the employer’s agent may also carry out other tasks on your behalf prior to the award of a contract, such as coordinating the tender process, coordinating the novation of consultants, collating contract documents, implementing change control procedures and so on.
