This training session covers the key do's and don'ts of successful tendering. It has been designed to help contractors strengthen their bidding strategies, improve the quality of their submissions, and increase their opportunities to win public sector contracts.
Session 1: Public Procurement: The ongoing changes with David Smith - What procurement routes are available to you, and how have these changed given the new procurement regulations in force from February 2025. We'll explain the changes and what they mean for you as a supplier.
Session 2: Portals and How to use them with Rachel Cowden - We'll look at how to work best with Proactis and Intend and navigate you through the process from start to finish.
Session 3: Setting you up for success: Pre-bid strategies, client relationships, developing winning bids and Better Quality Submissions - An interactive session to help you prepare to bid and set you up with the best chance to win. How to explore if you should bid at all, and what to look out for. We'll also learn how to build your bid map and key pre-tender information. You will also understand how to write compelling responses to quality questions and the four key areas to bidding effectively. You'll gain insight into understanding your USP and ensuring this is utilised within your bid responses.
Lunch Break & Campus Tour - During the lunch break, there will be an optional campus tour.
Session 4: Emerging Workforce Roundtable with Alex Tooke and Gareth Richardson (Head of the Built Environment at Canterbury College) - This roundtable brings together students and supplier partners to explore emerging workforce trends, career opportunities and the skills that will drive future success with the outcome to strengthen connections between education and industry. It will also provide suppliers the opportunity to discuss their roles and organisations and the impact they have.
Session 5: Successfully Navigating Cost Models with Paul Hann - How to complete your cost models and the importance of precision and thoroughness. Avoid the common pitfalls, and ensure your submissions stand out in the right way.
Tickets cost £40 + VAT. This is a subsidised rate as part of our re-investment back into the sector. The training is only open to commercial organisations such as contractors and consultants. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided and are included in the price.
