Learning Objective 

At the end of this session, delegates will have a greater understanding of how to recognise and respond to domestic abuse in a housing context. The training will explore the signs and dynamics of abuse, how to respond safely, and the role housing professionals can play in supporting victims, survivors and those affected.

Agenda

The session will be facilitated by Chris Grose and will cover:

  • Definitions and dynamics of domestic abuse
  • The impact of domestic abuse on children
  • Recognising signs of domestic abuse in day-to-day work
  • How to respond safely and appropriately
  • Awareness of the Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Honour-Based Violence risk identification checklist
  • Awareness of MARAC referrals
  • Working collaboratively with external services
  • Reviewing relevant policies and procedures
  • Discussing existing cases and practical approaches
  • Supporting staff both personally and professionally
