David's team will soon deliver a wider breadth of services both pre- and post- procurement. And, we'll work closely with our customers to makes sure every interaction with SEC drives value.
David is a Chartered Surveyor and a Fellow of the RICS, with over 40 years' experience, 30 years in housing. He's an asset to the SEC team and we're excited to have him onboard in this new capacity. He's written some words below for our network, introducing himself and his vision for the new role.
"In 2016 after three decades in social housing, I retired as Head of Asset Management from an ALMO in Kent. I still wanted the challenge of a job in the industry, so I applied for a part-time role at SEC as a Procurement Officer.
Since then I have used my Building Surveying skills to enhance SEC's offer, meaning we're able to offer more technical advice to Members. Our offer to help customers with their technical documents and training has proved so successful that we have now expanded our structure to include two Head of Service posts. I went through a rigorous recruitment process at the start of 2020, and started as Head of Operations on 2 March this year.
SEC's main strategic message is simple - to do more for our Members. In my new role I hope to be able to see SEC fulfil the aspirations of our three-year strategy. From 2020-23 we'll increase the services we offer, provide high-quality training to Members, influence solutions for the sector, and ultimately give back to the sector in which we all work. From a personal perspective I want to see the people who work for us grow and develop so that we can continue to provide excellent services and enhance our Membership offer.
One of our aims is to be seen as an extension of our Members' teams through knowledgeable and friendly advice. I believe this is vital and I'm passionate about seeing us bring real benefits to our Members. I am looking forward to how SEC can grow and I am confident that we can provide our Members more added benefits. The next three years will be very exciting as we break new ground."
