SEC are committed to spending £150,000 through our Foundation in the next three years. In our first round of nominations we recently supported the Kingdom Way Trust with a £10,000 donation to provide weekend drop-ins and support their Rough Sleeping Initiative.
We recently caught up with them again as part of our support and they’ve highlighted two possible ways that our framework partners could support their charitable work.
Hope Woodwork – donation of materials
Hope Woodwork is a project of Kingdom Way Trust in Eastbourne. They provide training in carpentry and employability skills, in a safe and supportive workshop environment. Their project manager and volunteer supervisors offer training to those looking to get back into employment but who may also need support to overcome barriers that make getting back into the workplace challenging.
In addition to the materials needed to provide the training, wood of various sorts is needed for the production of items that are sold to help generate income to contribute to covering the overheads and expenses on the project.
Any excess wood or off-cuts of reasonable size and of usable quality would be appreciated. Lengths or sheet material can be used in various internal or external products. Hope Woodwork also recycle pallet wood in good condition into sellable items.
Donations of other woodwork related materials, fixings and tools are also welcome!

Supported Accommodation – maintenance
At The Bridge and Hope into Action houses Kingdom Way Trust and provide support for residents in Eastbourne who are working towards independent living. Some have experienced homelessness, others are in recovery from addiction and others just need support with life skills. As a charity they rely on funding and donations to provide this valuable support alongside the accommodation. Their desire is to always offer good quality housing to respect the dignity of their residents. Costs of maintenance and re-decorating are a significant expense in the budget. Any donations of manpower and/or materials to enable them to maintain a high standard of homes across their four properties are very welcome.
