Understand the origins of social housing and how this informs the purpose and values of housing organisations today. You’ll also learn how housing associations are structured, funded and regulated.

The session will be facilitated by Pauline Hayes of the Chartered Institute of Housing. An outline of the session is shown below: 

  • The purpose and functions of Social Housing today and how to relate it to your role within your organisation.  
  • The origins of social housing and how this impacts on the vision and purpose of the sector today. 
  • The funding of social housing, including the four primary activities of housing providers and the six internal disciplines. 
  • Overview of the Housing Revenue Account for Local Government. 
  • The regulatory framework.
